ERIN PERKIN
DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Like many children, Erin Perkin wanted to be a veterinarian after reading All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot when she was twelve. She decided at a young age to pursue veterinary medicine as a career, and she never looked back. Since then, she has dedicated her life to animals and towards being the best veterinarian she can be. Erin Perkin grew up as an Air Force daughter, so she has lived all over the country and the world. Her father was stationed in Colorado Springs twice; she loved Colorado, the mountains, and the outdoor recreation they provide, which is why she chose Denver as her home. She has lived there ever since with her family which consists of her Mom and Dad, two sisters, two nieces and two nephews. She also has two cats – Jamie (5-year old DLH), and Trey (5-year old DMH).
She knew that she was in the right profession when she had applied to vet school and had to spend 800 hours gaining experience with animals. To get this expertise, she had to take an unpaid internship with Dr. Bert Brooks, a mixed animal vet in California. During her internship, one day they got back from a 12-hour day, and she started to realize how long they had been working and mentioned the realization to Dr. Brooks. He said “Yes, but it didn’t seem like work, did it?” She wholeheartedly agreed. “No, it was fun!” Dr. Perkin will quickly become a trusted friend to you and your animals. She is a compassionate, caring veterinarian who wants what is best for your pet.
But Dr. Perkin is more than a friend and a confidant – she is highly trained, qualified, and experienced, and has at her disposal a wide array of treatment methods. Because when it comes to your pet’s health, she is strictly business.
To Dr. Perkin being a Veterinarian isn’t just her job, it’s her entire life, and it shows. Dr. Perkin has a special interest in Endocrinology and is a member of the AVMA and CVMA. In her free time, she loves to garden, read, loves the outdoors, and is adept at fixing things in her home and building new things. She also prides her self on being one hell of a cook!
